Apr 08 | My First Sermon at the Cathedral!

Once again, I have to go running off, but this time to the last VSGlee rehearsal of the year!!! *sob* It’s been a wild ride, and things are in the wind for it.

However, I do have time to post the link to audio of my sermon. :D

Preaching “at home” was wild. I remember how nervous I was the first time I ever preached, which was Ash Wednesday 2012. My mentor at my field ed parish was so cute about it. At the end of the service he came over and said, “Walk with me.” I did.

“Let’s talk about that.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Why…” [I braced myself.] “…exactly were you nervous?”

I guess he liked it. It wasn’t a bad sermon.

The next time I preached was actually Easter 2 of 2012 – my first Sunday sermon. I preached on Doubting Thomas, of course – his story is the one we always read on Easter 2 (the Sunday after Easter) – because the story supposedly took place a week after Easter, which I had never freakin’ realized until this last Sunday. DERP. Anyway, because I preached on Thomas last year, I decided not to preach on him for the Cathedral. I got stuck for a while trying to choose between the other two readings – Acts or Revelation. I eventually chose Revelation – felt ambitious, I guess. I was then stuck on that – FOR AGES. Finally, I took a risk and busted out the Greek translation to see if there was anything interesting to go on. There were several! Fortunately, no-one seemed to mind that I went full-on geek mode on the Greek stuff. I can’t help it – languages are so fascinating to me!

So if you decide to listen, enjoy! Do comment!
